Presentations
Sherwin-Williams needed a User Experience designer to work on various projects within their automotive department, Collision Core. This section involves using various supplies and formulas to create Sherwin-specific colors for usage on cars, trucks, RVs, and other vehicles.
I was tasked with updating multiple screens based on department request, assisting with mapping the information architecture of several legacy tools, as well as crafting vector graphics for use on several of these tools.
In the initial stages of research project evaluation, I was asked to map out the current state of various Sherwin tools, among those being Mosaic and Inventory management. These tools specifically involve the various ratios and ingredients used to create proprietary Sherwin colors. Taking screenshots and labelling different types of interactions, I organized each screen across the information architecture before handing off to the research department.
I also worked on creating a Confluence library that organizes resources for personas that were being used company-wide across various design teams.
RESEARCH
Working with my project managers, we began to define updates to several of these current screens, bringing in older prototypes and suggesting different ways to accomplish a task.
DESIGN
Then, I prototyped different layouts of these designs using Figma to visualize these concepts. Using Sherwin's branding and colors, I wanted to visualize these screens in updated ways, creating variants to facilitate feedback sessions. I also refined the designs by adding iconography to various tables to better visualize status of various Sherwin products used to create colors and formulas.
EVALUATION
I finally presented these designs to both my project managers as well as the rest of the development team, talking them through my concepts and refining screens from their input.
For drivers, I aided other designers in creating vector artwork to illustrate various sections of a vehicle that requires painting. In this tool, sprayers are recommended the amount of paint used on car parts to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
My team also went into various manufacturing plants to better understand the process of storing and spraying paints.
My changes were implemented across Sherwin's tools, including the Confluence library of Personas and the map of Mosaic tools for Collision Core.
"I had the pleasure of working with Joshua Galang at Sherwin-Williams, and I can confidently say he is an great UX designer. Josh has a remarkable ability to understand user needs and translate them into intuitive, user-friendly designs.
One of his standout projects was the redesign of features within our Collision Core Color application conducted thorough discovery, created detailed prototypes, and participated in feedback sessions. The result was a significantly improved user experience that received positive feedback from both users and stakeholders."
